Committees

Our committees are a way we focus on historic preservation, education, and patriotism by enabling us to support and give back to our community.  The committees we are active with:

  • American Heritage Theme for 2022-2023: “Educating the Next Generation on Our Historic American Trails”
  • American HistorySponsors American History Essay contests for students in grades 5 through 8
  • American IndiansSupport of Indian schools and other programs
  • Americanism To promote, celebrate, and assist in developing citizenship and patriotism in communities
  • Children of the American Revolution – Promotes training in patriotism and leadership for youth from birth to age 22
  • Commemorative EventsAcknowledge benchmarks in American history
  • Community Classroom – Provides additional support to teachers and children in classrooms and schools
  • Community Service Awards – Provides a non-competitive recognition to worthy individuals and organizations for outstanding voluntary service
  • ConservationEducate on natural resources
  • Constitution Week – Activities emphasize the responsibilities of learning, protecting, defending & preserving the Constitution
  • DAR Good CitizensRecognizes and awards senior high school students who exemplify the qualities of a good citizen
  • DAR MagazinePromotes subscriptions from chapter members
  • DAR Museum OutreachInforms members of the needs and exhibits of the Museum
  • DAR Project PatriotSupports America’s service members and their families
  • DAR Scholarship – Available scholarships through the DAR
  • DAR SchoolPromotes contributions and support of the DAR schools and approved schools
  • DAR Service to VeteransAcknowledge and recognize veterans’ service, sacrifice, and commitment to the preservation of our nation’s freedom
  • DAR Today PodcastA monthly broadcast that will seek to educate the public and our membership on exactly who we are
  • The Flag of the United States of America To promote a deep patriotic sense of respect for our flag
  • Genealogical RecordsPreserves valuable unpublished records, such as Bible records
  • Historic PreservationActive in preservation projects in the community
  • Junior American Citizens Promotes civics education, American heritage and history, love of country and service
  • Junior MembershipPromotes active participation by Junior members (age 18-35)
  • Lineage ResearchAssists prospective members to obtain the required documentation for membership
  • Literacy PromotionPromote literacy in adults and children
  • National DefenseAdvocates for a strong American military defense and unwavering faithfulness to the ideals of the Founding Fathers as set forth in the U.S. Constitution
  • Patriot Records ProjectIndexes genealogical information contained within various repositories of documents detailing the establishment of the nation
  • Public Relations and Media CommitteeThis committee helps tell the DAR story of service and friendship
  • Service to AmericaEncourages members to provide meaningful community service in order to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism
  • Specialty ResearchRecognize the significant, but less frequently recognized, contributions to the cause of American freedom, by men and women residing within North America and in other countries during the time of the Revolutionary War
  • Women’s IssuesCurrent issues that are important to today’s women
