Constitution Week – September 17 – 23
In 1955, the Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. Gertrude S. Caraway, then President General of the National Society of the DAR, adopted a project to promote the observance of the U.S. Constitution with a memorial week beginning on the anniversary of the signing of this document, September 17. She asked DAR chapters, committees, and members to study, teach, and discuss the United States Constitution.
This is a great time to learn more about this important document and celebrate the freedoms it gave us.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of degrees in diverse disciplines including history, law, nursing, and education. (NSDAR Scholarship information.)
